Ingredients in plain English Carrot Cleanser

1. Sunflower oil - rich in essential fatty acids, softening.

2. Sweet almond oil - contains many fatty acids and hydrates. A good carrier that transports other active ingredients deep into the skin.

3. Castor oil - regulates moisture.

4. Jojoba oil - creates a protective layer on the skin to prevent the skin from drying out.

5. Carrot extract - promotes skin recovery. Pro vitamin A.

6. Tocopherol - Vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant. Helps protect against damage.

7. Cardamom - has a calming and comforting effect. Relieves stress and mental fatigue.

8. Myrrh - helps the skin recover and has a calming and soothing effect.

9. Lemongrass - has a strengthening, cooling and clearing effect. A real pick-me-up thanks to its spicy lemon aroma.

How to use

  1. Wet your face.
  2. Apply 2-3 pumps of Carrot Cleanser to your hand and massage in to cleanse your skin.
  3. Wipe your face with a lukewarm, damp cloth using soft, circular motions.

You can choose to cleanse only in the evening and skip it in the morning, if the skin was cleansed well the night before.

The Carrot Cleanser can safely be used to remove eye make-up.

Keep in mind that the Carrot Cleanser cleanses and nourishes your skin, rather than just cleansing. After cleansing, you will see that your face has a glow, because it is clean and nourished with vitamins.

Good to know: you no longer need to buy cotton pads or make-up wipes, because all you need is a warm damp cloth to remove all dirt, make-up and eye make-up.

The Carrot Cleanser keeps for up to 30 months after production. After opening, it keeps for 6 months.

Customers use a 50ml cleanser for an average of 2-3 months, and a 100ml cleanser for 4-6 months.

Scent

A natural, invigorating scent has been added to the Tomato Base Cream and Carrot Cleanser, but in the serums we deliberately chose not to add a natural scent, so they can also be applied around the eyes and are super mild products. The serums smell like their ingredients, which is often described as 'earthy'. Mix it with a little Tomato Base Cream if you do want a scent experience, or the scent will fade within a few minutes.

The essential oils cardamom, myrrh and lemongrass have been added to our Tomato Base Cream and Carrot Cleanser. Besides scent, these oils have other lovely effects, for both your mind and your skin.

Lemongrass

Lemongrass is a real pick-me-up thanks to its spicy lemon aroma. It drives away listlessness and despondency and gives strength when you feel weak. It has a strengthening, cooling and clearing effect on your skin.

Myrrh

Myrrh oil helps the skin recover and has a soothing effect. In warm weather, myrrh has a slightly cooling effect on the skin. It also has a calming and relaxing effect.

Cardamom

Cardamom has a purifying effect. It gives refreshing energy, calms frazzled nerves and helps you process tension better. It strengthens your mental focus and clears blockages.

Frequently asked questions about the Carrot Cleanser

How do you use the Carrot Cleanser?

Cleansing with oil can take some getting used to! Apply a small amount to damp skin and massage in gently. Then wipe it off with a lukewarm, damp cloth (or our reusable face cloth).

Does Carrot Cleanser also remove (waterproof) make-up and SPF?

Yes! The plant-based oils loosen dirt, sunscreen and make-up. If you wear a lot of make-up, a double cleanse (going through the steps twice) is pleasant.

What's in the Carrot Cleanser and is it perfume-free?

The base consists of plant-based oils (sunflower, almond, castor and jojoba), supplemented with carrot extract (natural provitamin A) and vitamin E. The formula is 100% natural, with 0% perfume. The subtle, soft scent comes from the essential oils themselves, not from added perfume.

Is Carrot Cleanser suitable for sensitive skin?

It is a mild cleanser that can also be pleasant for dry or sensitive skin. If you are sensitive to essential oils, it's wise to test on the inside of your elbow first. The Carrot Cleanser contains a very small percentage (less than 1%) of lemongrass, cardamom and myrrh.

An oil cleanser, doesn't that feel greasy? Even with oily or combination skin?

Many people have doubts about this beforehand, but after wiping off, the skin feels soft, not greasy. Oil cleansing actually suits most skin types, including oily and combination skin, because it cleanses without unnecessarily stripping the skin. The goal is clean skin that doesn't feel tight or dry out. We use cold-pressed non-comedogenic oils, which don't clog.

Is there a refill of the Carrot Cleanser?

Yes, the Carrot Cleanser is also available as a 50 ml refill, so you can refill your pump bottle instead of buying new packaging. Choose the refill variant at the top of this page. That way you save on packaging material and it's cheaper too.

Is an oil cleanser better than a foaming cleanser?

An oil cleanser is not necessarily better, but often gentler on the skin.

A foaming cleanser can thoroughly cleanse the skin, but some variants remove not only dirt and make-up but also a relatively large amount of the natural skin oils. Especially with dry or sensitive skin, this can cause a tight feeling.

An oil cleanser works differently: oil helps to dissolve sebum, make-up, and sunscreen without the need for strong degreasing cleansers.

Cleansing oil for the face

Cleansing is the most important step in your skincare routine. In our view, the best way to do this is with a mild oil-based facial cleanser. This doesn't dry out your skin. Many foaming cleansers contain soap, which can dry out the skin and give a tight feeling. A cleansing oil cleanses without stripping the skin. This way you won't suffer from irritated eyelids or dry, tight skin after cleansing.

Oil Cleanser by Food for Skin

Our Carrot Cleanser is a super mild, nourishing and restoring cleansing oil for your face. The oil cleanser not only cleanses your skin, but nourishes it at the same time. After cleansing, you will see that your face has a glow, because it is clean and nourished with vitamins. The oils we use are carefully selected and non-comedogenic. This means they don't clog the skin. The oils are cold-pressed, which preserves valuable nutrients.

Using a facial cleanser

If you're not used to cleansing with an oil cleanser, it can take some getting used to! Our tip: wet the skin first, then the oil spreads very easily over the skin. After wetting your face, apply one or two pumps to your skin and massage in well to cleanse your skin. Wipe your face with a lukewarm, damp cloth using soft, circular motions. You can use our washable face cloths for this. These have a waffle structure, which also removes dead skin cells right away. Make sure to do this with gentle motions, no scrubbing!

Natural make-up remover, also for waterproof eye make-up

The Carrot Cleanser can safely be used to remove (waterproof) eye make-up. You no longer need to buy cotton pads or make-up wipes. All you need is this cleansing oil for the face and a warm damp cloth to remove all dirt, make-up and eye make-up. Do you wear quite a bit of make-up? Then you can go through the steps above twice (double cleanse).
