Food for Skin, the Dutch skincare brand that creates high-quality skincare products from upcycled ingredients, proudly announces today an investment from three powerful impact investors: DOEN Participaties, a genuine business of Henk Jan Beltman—including Tony's Chocolonely—and the Rabo Foundation. With the financial and knowledge contributions of these impact partners, we can collectively make a greater impact in the European skincare industry.
This strategic partnership enables Food for Skin to accelerate its mission: to become a leader in responsibly produced skin care in Europe.
Food For Skin was a finalist in our Fair Future Challenge, for high-impact entrepreneurs with sustainable and socially responsible products. Their enormous drive to make an impact and make the cosmetics industry more sustainable was immediately apparent: not by shouting, but by taking action. With a high-quality alternative, they demonstrate that skincare truly can be done differently. – Noortje van Heijst, Investment Manager at DOEN Participaties.
The investment enables Food for Skin to increase its impact by:
-
Reach more consumers in the Netherlands and Europe
-
To set up local upcycling projects and combat food waste
-
Developing new products that are really needed
-
To expand the team
-
To give more people in the chain economic independence
Food for Skin products are 100% natural, vegan, locally produced, and upcycled whenever possible. Food for Skin uses oils and extracts from residual products like tomatoes, avocados, and broccoli—for maximum nourishment for your skin and minimal impact on the planet. Food for Skin's motto: truly sustainable skincare starts with smart choices in the supply chain. Less waste, more value.
"The skin is your largest organ. Protect and care for it well, without all kinds of nonsense, microplastics, or nasty ingredients. Food for Skin, with a strong team, is humbly following in the impact footsteps of Anita Roddick. Her powerful statement was: 'If you think you're too small to have an impact, try going to bed with a mosquito.'" – Henk Jan Beltman
In addition to investing in DOEN Participaties shares and a genuine business, the Rabo Foundation is financing Food for Skin's growth with a long-term loan. The Rabo Foundation will also contribute knowledge and expertise to increase its social impact.
With the investment from DOEN Participaties, genuine business, and funding from the Rabo Foundation, Food for Skin is building a strong foundation of knowledge and financial resources to become a leader in the high-quality, responsibly produced skincare industry. We don't do this alone, but together ! Angela Ursem, co-founder and Captain of Food for Skin.
