Upcycled ingredients

About 20% of the ingredients of the Tomato Base Cream come from side streams, upcycling.

We use the tomato skins left over from an Italian pasta sauce factory. The most beautiful oils are made from them, which we use for the Tomato Base Cream!

In addition, the avocado and broccoli in this product come from side streams of the food industry.

How to use

How to use the Tomato Base Cream

Morning and evening, take a pea-sized amount of cream and spread it over your face and neck. The cream absorbs quickly, also under make-up.

For the best results: the 3-step routine

  • Morning: cleanse your skin with 2-3 pumps of Carrot Cleanser and a lukewarm, damp cloth (or just rinse with water if you cleansed well the night before). Apply 1-2 pumps of serum and finish with a pea-sized amount of Tomato Base Cream. During the day you can then use an SPF.
  • Evening: cleanse with 2-3 pumps of Carrot Cleanser and a lukewarm, damp cloth. Apply 1-2 pumps of serum and finish with a pea-sized amount of Tomato Base Cream.

The Tomato Base Cream keeps for 36 months after production, 6 months after opening. 50 ml lasts about 2-3 months, 100 ml about 4-6 months.

Scent

A natural fragrance with an invigorating effect has been added to the Tomato Base Cream and Carrot Cleanser, but in the serums we deliberately chose not to add a natural fragrance, so they can also be applied around the eyes and are super gentle products. The serums smell the way the ingredients smell, which is often described as 'earthy'. Mix it with a little Tomato Base Cream if you want a scent experience, otherwise the smell fades within a few minutes.

The essential oils cardamom, myrrh and lemongrass have been added to our Tomato Base Cream and Carrot Cleanser, together less than 1%.

Lemongrass

Lemongrass is a real pick-me-up thanks to its spicy lemon aroma. It is strengthening, cooling and decongesting for your skin.

Myrrh

Myrrh oil restores the skin and is anti-inflammatory. In warm weather, myrrh has a slightly cooling effect on the skin. It is also calming and soothing.

Cardamom

Cardamom has a warm, spicy and refreshing scent.

Tomato is naturally rich in antioxidants, provitamin A and vitamin E. That's why this cream contains as much vegetable as possible: 78% tomato, partly from side streams that would otherwise be thrown away.

Niet mijn dagcrΓ¨me, hij ruikt naar T-tree-olie en ik vind hem te vet. Spijt dat ik er 40€ aan uitgegeven heb. Waarom moet dit kleine potje eigenlijk zo duur zijn?

Dankjewel voor je feedback! Jammer om te horen dat onze Tomato Base Cream geen match is voor jou. Wat je ruikt zijn de etherische oliën met lemongrass, mirre en cardamom. Het kan dus een beetje als 'aards' ervaren worden. Geur is inderdaad heel persoonlijk! We snappen dat de prijs misschien hoger is dan je bij andere merken ervaart, maar onze producten zijn volledig vrij van vulmiddelen en zijn daardoor hoog in werkende, voedende ingrediënten. Je hebt er dus ook maar heel weinig van nodig om de huid goed te voeden. Nogmaals dank voor de eerlijke review en mocht je ooit vragen hebben of advies willen voor een ander product, dan helpen wij je natuurlijk graag 😊

Is Tomato Base Cream a day cream or a night cream?

Both. Many brands sell a separate day cream and night cream, but your skin needs the same thing at both moments: nourishment, protection and help retaining moisture. A well-formulated cream can do both. With the Tomato Base Cream you use one natural face cream, in the morning after your serum and in the evening as the last step. Fewer jars on your shelf, and your skin gets exactly what it needs. During the day you finish with SPF.

Which skin type is Tomato Base Cream suitable for?

Tomato Base Cream is suitable for almost all skin types. Even for skin that is out of balance, the cream can help bring back calm and comfort. For very sensitive skin, it is a good idea to test on your elbow first. The cream contains many active ingredients and a very small percentage (less than 1%) of essential oil, which could cause a skin reaction.

Can I use Tomato Base Cream on restless or acne-prone skin?

Yes, we get positive reactions from customers with these skin conditions! The formula supports the skin and strengthens the skin barrier. Just note that it contains essential oils (less than 1%). If you have extremely sensitive skin, always test on the inside of your elbow first or consult your doctor.

Does this face cream contain perfume?

No synthetic fragrance has been added. The soft scent comes from less than 1% essential oil of cardamom, myrrh and lemongrass. These naturally contain fragrance components such as citral and linalool, which is why they appear on the ingredient list.

At Food for Skin, the Tomato Base Cream is better known as a powerhouse in a jar. The vegan face cream is a day and night cream in one and is designed for all genders, ages and skin conditions. The nourishing cream contains no synthetic fragrance and no added microplastics.

Face cream with natural ingredients

The natural face cream consists of 78% tomato. Tomato is naturally rich in antioxidants. The juice of the tomato is protective, the tomato seed oil soothing, and lycopene from the tomato skin is a powerful antioxidant that helps limit the damage caused by free radicals, for example from exhaust fumes and cigarette smoke.
