Extra care in addition to your basic routine

First the basics: cleansing, serum and cream, plus sun protection when you head into the sun. Extra care you add when your skin asks for something: a peeling for dull skin, an eye cream when the skin around your eyes could use a boost, or a lip balm for dry lips.

First the basics, then expand

At Food for Skin, we believe in skinimalism: a good routine starts with three steps: cleanse, serum, and moisturize. More products are not automatically better; every extra step is also an extra stimulus for your skin. But sometimes your skin needs something specific: dead skin cells that don't shed, tired-looking eyes, dry lips, or a day in the sun. For precisely those moments, there's extra care. If you don't have the basics yet, start with the complete sets or take the skincare quiz.

When do you add what?

Add the Apple Peeling if your skin looks dull or uneven: twice a week in the evening, your skin doesn't need more. The Rocket Eye Cream is useful as soon as the skin around your eyes specifically needs attention, for dryness, puffiness, or dark circles. The lip balms protect the thin lip skin that does not produce sebum, and the Sun Protection SPF30 is actually not an extra but a daily last step, all year round.

The Food for Skin philosophy

The extra care products also follow the rules of the basic routine: ingredients of 100% natural origin, vegan, without perfume, parabens, or added microplastics, and wherever possible, with ingredients from residual streams. So, you expand your routine without introducing anything you deliberately excluded with the basic routine.

Frequently asked questions about extra care

What's the first thing I add to my basic routine?

Daily sun protection, if you're not using it yet: SPF is the most important step against skin aging. After that, it depends on your skin: a mild peel for dull or uneven skin, an eye cream for specific concerns around the eyes.

Are more products better for my skin?

No. Every extra step is also an extra irritant, especially for sensitive skin. Only expand if your skin specifically asks for something, and give a new product three to four weeks to prove itself before adding anything else.

Can I use the peel and the eye cream together?

Yes, they don't interfere with each other. Use the peel a maximum of twice a week in the evening on your face and neck, avoiding the skin around your eyes. The eye cream can be used daily, both morning and evening.

Does sunscreen count as extra skincare?

Not really, SPF is a daily basic step. It's listed here because it falls outside of the three-step sets, but during the day, sun protection is the last step of any routine, all year round.
