Together with Sheltersuit
The Sheltersuit Foundation is the Dutch foundation that makes coat-sleeping bags for people who sleep on the street. This toiletry bag is made of Deltex, the material from that production, and of zippers that would otherwise have been destroyed.
For every β¬30 toiletry bag, β¬5 goes directly to the Sheltersuit Foundation. The rest covers materials and labor in the Netherlands.

Frequently asked questions about the Sheltersuit x Food for Skin toiletry bag
What is the toiletry bag made of?
From Deltex, the strong and weatherproof material from the production of Sheltersuit sleeping bags, with zippers that were saved from destruction. So it's a bag made from reused materials, made in the Netherlands. Because every bag comes from leftover fabric, the individual bags differ slightly in appearance.
What happens with my purchase amount?
For every toiletry bag of β¬30, we donate β¬5 directly to the Sheltersuit Foundation, the Dutch foundation that makes coat-sleeping bags for people who sleep on the street. The rest covers materials, manufacturing in the Netherlands and the design by Oksana from the Sheltersuit team.
How big is the toiletry bag and what fits in it?
The size is approximately 19,5 x 7,5 x 14 cm. Enough for your travel routine: a (trial) set with three products, a lip balm, toothbrush and toothpaste fit in it together. You can even add a very small bottle of Shower Oil or a Body Bar.
Can I give the toiletry bag as a filled gift?
Yes, that may well be the nicest way to use it. Combine the bag with a trial set or a few minis and you have a complete, sustainable gift with a story. When ordering, tick "send as a gift" and we'll send everything directly to the recipient.
How do I care for the bag?
Always make sure the pumps of your Food for Skin products are screwed on tightly so no oil leaks into the bag. Deltex can be washed at 60ΒΊC, but to keep the fabric looking its best we recommend washing the toiletry bag at 30ΒΊC. Does the fabric look uneven after washing? Then put it in the dryer briefly with a tennis ball.
From sleeping bag to toiletry bag
This toiletry bag is made of Deltex, the strong and weatherproof material that Sheltersuit uses to make sleeping bags and coats for people experiencing homelessness. Offcuts from that production get a second life as a toiletry bag, and the zippers have also been saved from destruction. The design comes from Oksana, who came to the Netherlands as a refugee from Ukraine and is now a permanent member of the Sheltersuit team. Because every bag is made from leftover fabric, no two are exactly the same.
What is the Sheltersuit Foundation?
The Sheltersuit Foundation is a Dutch foundation that makes coats that can be transformed into a sleeping bag for people without a permanent home. The products are made sustainably, often from recycled materials, and partly produced in social workshops where people with a distance to the labor market work. The goal is to offer direct protection against cold and rain and to contribute to structural solutions for homelessness.
Since 2014, Sheltersuit has handed out 40,661 Sheltersuits and Shelterbags, created 251 work and development opportunities and given 197,641 kilos of residual material a new life.
Where are the toiletry bags made?
For us, sustainability goes beyond materials alone. The toiletry bags are made in the Sheltersuit workshop. The workshop is a place where craftsmanship is learned, talent can develop and self-worth grows. This way, every bag contributes not only to less waste, but also to more prospects for people. The design is by Oksana, who came to the Netherlands as a refugee from Ukraine and is now a permanent member of the Sheltersuit team. She started behind the sewing machine and gradually found her way back to her original background as a designer. Today she works as a production assistant in sampling and quality control. Her story shows what this project is really about: not only do materials get a second life, but people do too.
What fits inside?
At Β± 19.5 by 7.5 by 14 centimeters, this is the ideal size for a weekend away or for your gym bag: compact, but roomy enough for a complete routine. A trial set fits in easily, along with a Berry Balm, a small tube of SPF and a toothbrush. Filled with minis, it is also a gift that does good twice.
