Ingredients in plain English Pumpkin Serum

  1. Pumpkin seed oil - softening.
  2. Borage seed oil - calming, soothing and restoring.
  3. Chia seed oil - softening.
  4. Broccoli seed oil - rich in antioxidants, softens and calms the skin.
  5. Sugarcane (bisabolol) - calming, restoring and soothing properties. Our Bisabolol is fermented with glucose from Brazilian sugarcane (Bonsucro-certified), a much more sustainable process than the natural variant from Candeia bark, which requires 10 years of growth and 1 ton of bark for just 7 kg of Bisabolol.
  6. Sea buckthorn oil - protective.
  7. Sunflower oil - as a carrier oil.
  8. Rosemary extract - antioxidant and shelf life.
  9. Q10 - for plump, firm and smooth skin.

Laboratory tests have shown no indications of allergies.

Ingredients from upcycling

The bisabolol comes from sugarcane left over from sugar production and the pumpkin comes from residual streams in the food industry.

How to use

Evening routine:

  1. Wet your face. Apply 2-3 pumps of Carrot Cleanser to your hand and massage in to cleanse your skin. Remove with a lukewarm damp washcloth using gentle, circular motions.
  2. Apply 1-2 pumps of Pumpkin Serum to your face, neck and around your eyes.
  3. Protect the skin with the Tomato Base Cream. Take a pea-sized amount of cream and spread over your face and neck.

Extra: twice a week in the evening, apply the Pumpkin Serum generously to cleansed skin, without the Tomato Base Cream. This way the Pumpkin Serum works as an overnight mask to give the skin extra nourishment.

Morning routine:

Repeat the steps above. You can choose to skip step 1 in the morning if the skin was cleansed well the evening before.

The Serums keep for up to 30 months after production. After opening, they keep for 6 months.

Customers use a 30ml serum for an average of 2-3 months, and a 60ml serum for 4-6 months.

Scent

A natural scent has been added to the Tomato Base Cream and Carrot Cleanser for an invigorating effect, but in the serums we deliberately chose not to add a natural scent, so they can also be applied around the eyes and remain super mild products. The serums smell like the ingredients smell, which is often described as 'earthy'. Mix it with a little Tomato Base Cream if you do want a scent experience, or the scent will fade within a few minutes.

The essential oils cardamom, myrrh and lemongrass have been added to our Tomato Base Cream and Carrot Cleanser. Besides scent, these oils have other beneficial effects, for both your mind and your skin.

Lemongrass

Lemongrass is a real pick-me-up thanks to its spicy lemon aroma. It dispels listlessness and despondency and gives strength when you feel weak. It has a strengthening, cooling and decongesting effect on your skin.

Myrrh

Myrrh oil restores the skin and has a soothing effect. In warm weather, myrrh has a slightly cooling effect on the skin. It also has a calming and relaxing effect.

Cardamom

Cardamom has an antibacterial effect. It gives refreshing energy, calms overwrought nerves and helps you process tension better. It strengthens your mental concentration and clears blockages.

Frequently asked questions about the Pumpkin Serum

Is the Pumpkin Serum an anti-aging serum?

The Pumpkin Serum is often searched for as an anti-aging serum, but it does not promise wrinkle reduction. It supports the firmness and resilience of the skin and helps strengthen the skin barrier. Its effect is based on the properties of the ingredients, not on reversing aging.

What is a good serum for older skin?

A serum for mature skin ideally supports the skin barrier and elasticity, without empty promises. In the Pumpkin Serum, pumpkin seed oil is softening, chia seed and broccoli seed oil are protective, sea buckthorn oil is rich in antioxidants and Q10 supports the skin in counteracting oxidative damage.

Can I use the Pumpkin Serum during the day?

Yes. Many users choose to use the Pumpkin Serum during the day because it feels slightly less rich. In the evening you can then use a richer serum such as the Avocado Serum. Especially in combination with a sunscreen during the day, this is experienced as a pleasant choice.

What role does Q10 play in the Pumpkin Serum?

Q10 (ubiquinone) is an antioxidant that naturally occurs in skin cells and decreases with age. In the Pumpkin Serum, Q10 contributes to protecting skin cells against oxidative damage and supports a smooth skin texture.

Can I try the serum first?

Yes. The Pumpkin Serum comes in mini format in the Trial Set Pumpkin, together with the cleanser and the cream. We also offer the option to test a trial set of all our serums. The skin renews itself every three to four weeks, so with a trial set you test for exactly long enough.

Serum for mature skin

From around the age of forty, your skin changes noticeably. Collagen production decreases, the skin retains moisture less well and the skin barrier recovers more slowly. The result: skin that feels drier, duller or less resilient, often accelerated during menopause. The Pumpkin Serum is composed precisely for that phase. It nourishes the skin with fatty acids and antioxidants that support firmness and elasticity and help strengthen the skin barrier. Not to turn back time, but to support the skin every day in what it does less and less by itself.

Looking for an anti-aging serum?

The Pumpkin Serum is often searched for as an anti-aging serum or anti-wrinkle serum. We want to be honest about that: no serum makes wrinkles disappear. Anyone who promises that is selling a fairy tale. We believe in pro-aging, supporting skin that is changing. The beta-carotene in pumpkin seed oil, a precursor of vitamin A, supports the firmness of the skin. Q10 helps protect skin cells against oxidative damage. The result after consistent use: skin that looks more resilient and fresher, with the lines that belong to you.

The strengthening ingredients

The base is pumpkin seed oil, naturally rich in beta-carotene, zinc and essential fatty acids. Chia seed oil and broccoli seed oil are protective and lay a soft layer over the skin. Sea buckthorn oil is one of the richest plant-based sources of antioxidants and supports the skin's natural recovery process. Bisabolol from sugarcane calms, pleasant for mature skin that is also becoming more sensitive. And Q10, an antioxidant that naturally occurs in skin cells and decreases with age, helps protect against oxidative damage. The formula is 100% natural and vegan, without water or fillers

How the serum fits into your routine

The serum is step 2 of your routine: first cleanse with the Carrot Cleanser, then apply the serum to face and neck and finish with the Tomato Base Cream. Many users combine the Pumpkin Serum during the day with the richer Avocado Serum in the evening. If you want the complete strengthening routine in one go, choose the Set Pumpkin. You can try it first with the Trial Set Pumpkin, or take the skincare quiz if you're not sure which serum suits your skin.
