Food for Skin is made with high-quality ingredients derived from nature: plants and vegetables. Hey, vegetables on your face? Let me start by saying that we didn't use crushed tomatoes, but high-quality oils and extracts from vegetables, seeds, nuts, and plants.
Vegetables are good for your skin
Why vegetables and not flowers or fruit? It stems from our passion for cooking with lots of vegetables. Cathy's vegetable drawer is always overflowing with fresh produce (usually from the West Friesland area), and Angela eats a lot of vegetables anyway because she follows a low-carb diet. This love of vegetables began in our childhood. Our mother, also jokingly called the Green Ten, was way ahead of her time back in the 1970s by gardening organically in our own vegetable garden. Whenever we asked, "What's for dinner?" the standard answer was, "Just look in the garden and see what's ready!"
Improve facial skin
Vegetables are a source of energy produced by nature for humans and animals to eat, to build strength, and to stay healthy. We all know that fresh vegetables are good for you, but few know that they are also very good for your skin—your largest organ.
What is good for your facial skin?
When we started Food for Skin, we wanted the ingredients list to read like a delicious recipe: food for your skin. So we quickly settled on plants, nuts, and vegetables!
Together with our professional formulator (who creates the final 'recipe' for the skin care products), we set out to find out which vegetables have which beneficial properties.
Natural products for your skin
-
Did you know that tomatoes are packed with lycopene? Lycopene is a powerful protector against external pollution, but also against negative effects of the sun on the skin (note: it is not SPF!).
-
Carrot is packed with a precursor to retinol (vitamin A from beta carotene), which helps restore the skin and gives it a beautiful, soft, glowing complexion.
-
You've probably heard the tip to apply cucumber slices to your skin after spending a bit too much time in the sun. Cucumber heals, hydrates, and softens the skin.
-
Pumpkin contains a lot of zinc and selenium, which are essential for repairing and strengthening the skin.
-
And avocado is a welcome addition to skincare. It makes the skin supple and helps keep it hydrated.
-
In addition to these 5 main ingredients, we use many other recognizable ingredients, such as broccoli seed oil, oat oil, elderflower oil, castor oil, shea butter (from the shea nut), etc.
Healthy skin
With all these raw materials, you nourish your skin. Many chemically developed products combat skin problems aggressively. We believe you shouldn't fight problems, but rather address the root cause: imbalanced skin flora. Help restore your skin flora to a healthy balance, and you'll see skin problems diminish. But take your time! It can sometimes take at least four weeks for your skin to recover. Don't expect instant results from natural products. Because they won't. They nourish the skin and tackle it gently, restoring the foundation and skin barrier, giving you that soft, glowing, healthy complexion! Natural facial care
Food for Skin's natural facial care products aren't cheap. That's because we didn't want to compromise on ingredients. Food for Skin doesn't contain cheap fillers like water (aqua) or microplastics, but every drop is packed with active ingredients. That's why you don't need much. A small amount of cream or serum is enough to nourish your skin all day long.
